Sheryl Henry, LMHC
Sheryl Henry, LMHC, is an experienced and dedicated mental health therapist with extensive clinical training in anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy theoretical approaches with the integration of spirituality; her goal is to assist her clients in gaining new perspectives and skills to overcome the challenges they face.
Sheryl believes that mental health is essential at every stage of life. Sheryl specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) and adult women. In addition, Sheryl is skilled at providing support to parents and families whose children are in need of therapeutic support. Sheryl also enjoys providing group therapy for children, teens, and parents.
Inspired by her work with the children she serves in counseling and her own life experiences, Sheryl expresses her creative passion by writing children’s books that incorporate mental health and wellness themes. She believes that the mind-body-spirit connection is vitally important to healing and emotional wellness and incorporates this practice in her own daily life.
Additionally, Sheryl is an advocate for mental health and emotional wellness. She is most proud of her work on community projects, teaching stress management and distress tolerance skills. Similarly in July2021, Sheryl presented the community research findings of “Inhale Peace! The Power of Breathwork in Promoting Resilience and Reducing Pandemic Stress in African-American Adults,” at the 52nd Annual International Convention of The Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi) with co-presenters Dr. Katurah Jenkins-Hall, Ph.D. and Ashley Aquil, B.A.
Sheryl graduated from the University of South Florida in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology (Magna Cum Laude). She received her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in May 2018. She also serves in leadership as the Coordinator of Counseling Ministry at her church, New Dawn Restoration Center in Tampa.
